My name is Virginia Reina. I’m a standby art director experienced in period and contemporary drama. I live in London but love when my work takes me to new places. My most recent projects include Luna Carmoon’s upcoming vampire film To Make Ends Meat and Sonoya Mizuno’s directorial debut Stages.
Notable works include The Banshees of Inisherin (Martin McDonagh) which received BAFTAs and Golden Globe awards as well as an Oscar nomination in 2023, Empire of Light (Sam Mendes) for which the art department was awarded Best Production Design by the British Film Designer’s Guild in 2023, Harris Dickinson’s debut feature Urchin which was awarded in the Un Certain Regard category at Cannes 2025, and the popular Slow Horses detective series 3 & 4 for Apple TV which has received an Emmy and BAFTA awards.
In 2013 I graduated with a First Class Degree in BA (Hons) Film Production at the Arts University Bournemouth, specialising in production design. I began my career as a runner for Ridley Scott Associates in Soho and was later accepted onto the BBC’s Art Director Traineeship in Elstree. Since 2017 I have focused on standby art directing.
Outside of work I enjoy writing, studying philosophy, salsa dancing and hanging out with my cats.
